But Yazid\u2019s governor in K\u016bfah,\u00a0<strong>\u02bfUbaydull\u0101h ibn Ziy\u0101d<\/strong>, dispatched troops to block his path and forced him to camp at\u00a0<strong>Karbala\u0304\u02be<\/strong>. The Umayyad army, commanded by\u00a0<strong>\u02bfUmar ibn Sa\u02bfd<\/strong>, besieged Imam Hussain (AS) and denied him and his family access to water from the Euphrates.<\/p>\n<p>For several days,\u00a0<strong>\u0627\u0644\u0625\u0645\u0627\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u062d\u0633\u064a\u0646 (\u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0644\u0627\u0645)<\/strong>, his household, and his seventy-two companions endured thirst and exhaustion under the scorching sun. On the 10th of Mu\u1e25arram (<strong>\u02bf\u0100sh\u016br\u0101\u02be<\/strong>), the battle erupted. One by one his companions and family were martyred \u2014 including his sons, brothers, and even his infant son, \u02bfAli al-Asghar (AS).\u00a0<strong>Ultimately, Imam Hussain (AS) himself was struck down after a day of fierce resistance.<\/strong>\u00a0According to early reports, he was killed by\u00a0<strong>Shimr ibn Dh\u012b al-Jawshan<\/strong>, acting under the orders of \u02bfUmar ibn Sa\u02bfd and Ibn Ziy\u0101d, representing Yazid\u2019s regime.<\/p>\n<p>Though Yazid sat far away in Damascus, his command chain was clear:\u00a0<strong>Ibn Ziy\u0101d gave the orders, \u02bfUmar ibn Sa\u02bfd commanded the field, and Shimr ibn Dh\u012b al-Jawshan delivered or directed the final act.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After the massacre,\u00a0<strong>Lady Zaynab (SA)<\/strong>\u00a0and the surviving family of the Prophet \ufdfa were taken captive and paraded to K\u016bfah and Damascus. If Karbal\u0101\u02be was written in blood by Imam Hussain (AS), it was preserved in words by Lady Zaynab (SA).
